Shamisen, Voice and Shakuhachi-New music for Old Instruments
This concert will feature one of Japan’s top shamisen masters, Hidetarō Honjō and his star student, Hidejirō Honjō. Local musicians Christopher Yohmei Blasdel (shakuhachi) and Mika Kimula (voice) will join them in a program that will feature a variety of contemporary compositions showcasing the depth and capabilities of both the instruments and the players. Works by both Japanese and western composers will be showcased.
